The Third Eye Chakra
THE THIRD EYE CHAKRA OR AJNA CHAKRA is located at the forehead in-between the eyes. This is the energy center for intuition, ego, and perception.
The 6th Chakra Center
Capacity for intuition and open mindedness is here.
All elements combined are here - light.
The color is indigo.
This Chakra is the energy of intuition and the ego.
The Ego always gets a bad rap, but the ego is neither good or bad, it’s only a matter of it’s evolution. The ego’s job is to protect us and from experiences it’s developed strategies and ways it believes will keep us safe. It may take on the belief that we are separate, independent, non-reliant on anyone else. This can look like feeling like the victim of circumstance, the need to isolate or a feeling of better than other. Saying things like “I am not smart enough”, “I’m not capable”, “Nobody likes me”, “I’m right, they’re wrong”, “I’m better than them”, “Why is this always happening to me?”.
On the other hand the ego is also our sense of self - it’s our self-esteem and a clear understanding of ourselves in the world. Through humbling experiences, learning to surrender and accept, big life changes, proving ourselves wrong or right, believing in self, self-love and self-care, spiritual evolution - the ego can begin to shift into the more positive, inclusive self beliefs.
Then, there’s intuition - our intuition is our ability to be open to the information that we can not always see. Our sixth sense. This is where our connection to our bodies is found. This is where we gain clarity about things in our life while experiencing uncertainty. Discernment, of others and ourselves, is what the other is saying true? Is it ok to be receptive or not? Our thoughts become relaxed and easy here when open VS rigid, racing, irrational or overthinking.
Because the pineal and pituitary glads are located in this charka this means this center is connected to the entire endocrine and hormonal system. Determining balance or imbalance. Interestingly enough the HPA Axis - Hypothalamus, Pituitary, Adrenal (and thyroid) Cortex function is deeply connected to how open or closed this energy center might be. Which, when you have a breakdown in this axis (usually called adrenal dysfunction or fatigue) you can look at what came first, not trusting yourself and shutting this intuitive part of you down OR depleting of energy from emotion and physical inflammation from other areas of the body and environmental, food toxins. Many people who have Hashimoto’s or a thyroid condition will also have issues with their pituitary (either inflammation or an abnormal elevation in the hormone secretion).
POSSIBLE WAYS/SIGNS THIS ENERGY CENTER IS IMBALANCED;
1) operating only from the THINKING brain VS the FEELING BRAIN
2) pineal calcification (environmental toxins)
3) HPA axis dysfunction emotional/physical traumas, environmental toxins
4) being afraid of intuition or feeling too much - so you shut it down
5) receiving intuitive information and feelings and disregarding them (sending signal it’s unnecessary)
6) being overly intellectual - complete disregard of anything that isn’t seen or tangible
7) belief that you are better and know everything already
8) defensiveness or quickness to protect self from others
